Do you see what I see?

If you look at my pictures here, you will. We are in the middle of what our local media is calling "The Arctic Blast of 2008."

I call it "Winter".

It gets cold up here in the mountains, so we are keeping our wood stove stocked which means lots of chopping wood (for Rod) and lots of hauling wood (for me.)

The pipes in the barn froze, probably around the same time the temperature dipped to 7, so we have been hauling warm water out to the horses. That's lots of fun. Really. Lots of fun. Here is our new mare Duchess, who looks like a fuzzy bunny right now. A bunny with four hooves and a penchant for whinnying. Cute, right?

Here is Pa Ingalls getting ready for a walk with me and the dogs this morning. Notice the jeans and flannel shirt. This is the SAME THING he wore last spring when we began wogging together. What is up with this?

P.S. Yes, he does have a ski coat, pants and boots.

Here is Ma Ingalls. The New and Improved model. She can haul water and wood while wearing her Columbia Omni-Tech 3-in-1 parka and ski pants as well as her Columbia Titanium snow boots.

HA! I laugh at the snow and cold.

And at Pa Ingalls who thinks he'll stay warm in his Wrangler jeans. Cotton flannel runs away and cries at the snow and cold we've been experiencing this week.

Seriously.

Can you say "hypothermia?"

I can.

I can also say "hot chocolate" which is sounding just about perfect right now.
Hope you are all enjoying all the moments of your Christmas season where ever you are.

Hey,w e got a snow day out of this weather and a two hour delay yesterday! Jack just flew into Portland from Wi and said there is no snow on the ground there, it's just wet! he's in for a shock when he gets home in a few hours!

Have a great weekend! We are Atlanta bound on Saturday! :) Pray for Jack to feel better so we can stay with the nieces. :)

Beautiful snow picture and beautiful horse. Did Pa Ingalls freeze?

Feel free to send the snow to NC, I won't complain. ;o)

Our outdoors looks a lot like yours right now, except without the pine trees, or the mountains, or the really cool snow gear you have. We have another storm coming into night. Supposed to be a "doozie" as my Grandpa would say. I say give me a ticket to somewhere tropical!

The snowy pictures are beautiful! I miss snow. I know too much of it can make one a little loony, but I do miss it. The news said it snowed in the little town just north of us earlier this week. It was 1/4 inch deep and melted in 8.2minutes.

Stay warm out there and have a merry, joy-filled Christmas!

I am SO jealous! All we get here is rain. Richmond is in a weird no-snow-zone. You look so cute in your Eskimo get up! And speaking of cute, Duchess is absolutely adorable. Is she a Christmas present? Well now I have to go make hot chocolate because it sounds so good. Have a very Merry Christmas! And yes, I am 'hood.

Hi Diane!

I am trying to make my rounds....I don't get around like I used to. Work takes up all my time, or so it seems!

You look so warm and snug in your snow gear! Bet your hubby froze!

Love the pics of your snow, especially since we don't get snow here very often! I am originally from PA (born in NY) so I am used to snow...and I must say, I really DO miss it!!! Your photos are so beautiful!!! Love the one with the dogs! Do they wear those doggie boots I see at our local PetsMart?

Your new mare is beautiful!!! Do you blanket her when it gets down so cold? I love her color!

Merry CHRISTmas to you and yours!

Dear Mom and Dad,

I am writing to see if you are having as much fun in the snow as I am. I was playing in the woods all day like you guys and now there's pictures of me on my blog. Thanks for the snow genes.

Love,
Dresden

Better than "Must-See TV." Wow, that is beautiful up there, for sure, but also deadly. Kind of like me, now that I come to think about it. ?

Glad to know you have some sense about what NOT to wear in Siberia. It makes my bones hurt just thinking about the flannel.

OH Diane...it was SO good to hear from you today! What beautiful pictures you have here...I need to go find some snowshoes just to keep reading this stuff. I'm freezing now. :-)

I am enjoying the season this year...it finally got a bit cold here, too, but nothing like this!

Merry CHRISTmas to you and your family!
